2000 Trans Am questions

Alright so I don't know much about Pontiacs b/c they're not my thing. My friend wants to do an engine swap from a TA into a Mustang so I'm helping her out. I've looked enough to find out that a 2000 TA has an LS1 and I got a few specs and all that good stuff. I didn't know if there were any sites specifically for this engine or sites where I could find prices on eng./tranny. If anyone knows any good sites to start looking for info. let me know. Thanks.

Re: 2000 Trans Am questions

From what I understand, the LS1 mates into the Mustangs fairly nicely.
I am sure some custom work is required though.

www.ls1.com is a good place to start. also check

http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?category=0

to buy engine/ tranny combos you cna shop on ebay or form some of the 4th gen F-body dismantlers like:

Billy graham salvage (you'll need to look the address up)

http://www.gmsports.com/

wiring/ compluter places like "speed scene" wiring http://www.speedscenewiring.com/ , or "speartech" http://www.speartech.com/ or http://www.madz28.com/

also pick up the LS1 installation guie by GM. part # 88959384

This should get you started.

I believe LS1.com is down, and fwiw, was weak as far as real tech info toward the end. More of a high school chat room.... AFAIC... the BEST LS1 specific board on the net is www.ls1tech.com

Browse the hybrid subforum and the internals section. Also use the search feature for any specific answer to ANY question you may have. You WILL find what you're looking for.

Happy transplanting!

Re: 2000 Trans Am questions

LS1 is back up. Not what is was though.

LS1Tech is by far the best LSx site/forum.
