Question 351m with 400 Crankshaft and Pistons

I heard somewhere that you can replace the crankshaft and pistons in your 351m with the ones from a 400. and supposedly this would increase your CID from 351 to a full 400. Is this true? If so, would this improve my hp and torque significantly at all? Id probly have to replace the the intake, carb, and exhaust among other things to feel the full benefits but i was just wondering.

Re: 351m with 400 Camshaft and Pistons

Yes, it's true. The blocks are the same. The bore is the same. The only functional difference is the stroke. The 351s (all of them) have a 3.5" stroke, where the 400 has a 4" stroke.
You will also find the heads from a Cleveland will fit. The 4-bbl. heads actually work better on a 400 than any other, as they are MUCH too big for a smaller engine. (we fill the floors 1/2" with epoxy and pick up flow...)
