Re: mechanic school

they just called me tellin me theyll send the info by mail, luckily theres a campus like 25 minutes away from my house, the guy told me i can go take a tour and he'll explain everything to me.
they have like 5 branches u can go to after u finish the basic mekanik training. either go with ford, bmw, volkswagen, i think jaguar, and even a NASCAR thing. oh, also a collision repair branch.

Re: mechanic school

Thats UTI your talkin about. I went to NTI a branch of UTI here in WNC. I went to nascar tech because it was close to home. But I will tell you this much. It is a waiste of time, brain space, and $$$!! Cost me about $30k to attend and they tried to get another $1300 out of me when I was about 8 months in. I left that day and never went back. Still paying off the stupid loan. I wish I could sue them for false advertisement. They promised me this and told me that and none of it was true. Their recruiters where just lookin out for their own pockets and ripping everyone else off by doing so. They told me that in this I think it was a 16month program starting in basic training and then going on to take about 3 Ford specific classes that they offered on sight, then going to a couple nascar classes would land me a job making more than $50k a year starting out and I would be ASE certified the moment I graduated. While I was taking the heating and cooling (AC) class which I aced by the way and cant remember shit from it to this day, they wanted me to give them another $15 to take a test to be AllData certified...after they got $30k from me. Also they didnt have dorms, I had to rent an apartment for $745/mo that was crawling with bugs, hot water went in and out, and the neighbors always complained about me leaving in my loud truck at 5am every morning to be at school on time. I would strongly advise you to look into some other options. You will get nowhere by attending UTI. The cops around here also where strict on the students. Yes we where mostly young make drivers in semi fast/very loud vehicles. But the fast that we went to a "speed school" made it that much worse on us. The best place I can advise for you to go is Whyo tech. Other than that I would suggest looking into a local community college that offers automitive classes. Just do yourself a favor and stay away from UTI. If I had talked to someone who went to UTI before I gave them my $$ I never would have gone. When I first started I thought it was awsome, I was doing about the best in the class and got along great with most of the teachers, all that fun stuff lasted about 6 weeks.

Whatever you do, don't go to UTI. A friend of mine, who I work with went there and regrets every bit of it. Waste of money. Local tech schools are the best way to go.

Well thats part of their big sales pitch. The whole we can get you a job on a pit crew or give use your money we will tell you we can get you a job with a race team. But...UTI pays nascar to use their name. UTI is in no way affiliated with nascar, they just use it for a sales pitch. Also these days with the polotics in racing you pretty much have to be in the family or know someone who has some pull to get a job doing almost anything for nascar. Aside from selling T-shirts that is.

The whole point, in my opinion, is thats its just not worth $20,000 tuition for the education that you get. Plus books, tools and apartment fees, your looking at 25-30K that you have to bay back right after school. I went to WCTC in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. It was a pretty well rated school state wide and I only payed like $4K tuition for a 3 semester course. I was happy with it.

Yes you can. You would also be better off there. Generally there is more 1 on 1 time with teachers so you get first hand experience.
