89 teg prob...help!!!

Having a persisting problem with my 89' teg. I'll be cruising [doesnt matter what speed, doesnt matter how warmed up car is] and suddenly the car begins to decellerate EXACTLY as if i took my foot off the accelerator, i watch the tach fall and the car die. This whole time, the gas pedal is completely nonresponsive. Electronics still work, just the engine is off [doesnt even help the drop it to neutral; still dies] i have no warning lights of any kind.

My first thought was the cable snapped, but its perfectly intact and works the throttle body just as it should. After this, the car would not start for about a day. I start it the next day, no problemo. anyway, i have the same recurring symptom of the car dying like this, leaving it for a while, coming back, starting up fine, etc. the interval between the symptom is growing smaller, and its happened a total of four times now. i need to fix this.

i am thinking its either a cpu problem or a fuel deliery problem [pump going out? i replaced the fuel filter just to see it it would do anything..] i get spark to the dist. cap just fine when i have a friend try and start it.

any ideas? anyone? HELP!

does it start right up when you start up the engine again? if so, when? right away or is there a wait?this does not happen in idle? where and how does your idle look? only in part throttle or wot?

Re: 89 teg prob...help!!!

it wont start right up after dying. it takes a few hours before it will start. also - doesnt matter where i am with the throttle when i dies. when it does start back up whether its a few days or hours later] my idle looks perfect, runs smooth.
?????

think so?

have you encountered this problem before? i just want a little certainlty before throwing money at a car that isnt worth much to begin with.

ive noticed that the longer i leave it sit after dying, the longer i can drive it without it dying.

so...fuel pump, eh?

Re: 89 teg prob...help!!!

try changing the ignition module or coil. it seems your car shuts off when it gets at the normal operating temp. this is a symtom of the module or coil.
