help with a stock computer

way back in May i was driving, and my wipers started flickering and my car shut off, i figured that it was my alt. but i still had power.it just wouldnt turn over. so i took it to the shop 4 weeks ago, and he said it was the crankshaft and fuel inject. crap, after he put them in he said it all it needed was a new computer. i didnt have the money for a new one so he said he would find one at the car yard. its been 4 weeks and he said he still cant find one. by the way this guy is a friend of mine and he doest charge me for labor. has anyone had these problems before any comments are useful, or better yet, does antbody have a computer laying around that they wanna get rid of.
