new install question

Well, first off, I would like to thank one of our members - FourG6397GST for lending a hand and doing the install for me. I would have tried to do it, but that's a long story lol.

Ok, so FourG put in the Dejon Tool upper L and S intercooler pipes and Greddy type S bov. Install went smoothly except for a damn bolt that didn't want to come out lol.

Anyway, I noticed something a little weird when driving. When I'm driving, and I let up off the gas, I kinda hear what seems to be like a bell sound. No lights in the gauge cluster come on when I hear it, so I don't know. I know the bov blows off when I let off of the gas, but this sound comes like maybe .5-1 second after the chirp. I am keeping the recirculation pipe on.

Also, how do you guys suggest "tuning" the bov with the harder or softer screw setting?

Thanks!

Here are some pics:

that almost sounds like what my greddy bov does. After my bov sounds it makes a second slight whistle sound a second later. Crazy

Re: new install question

Even my stock 1g BOV does this noise after you hear the rush of air.

Hmmm.. this is weird. It just started happening with the new bov. It kinda sounds like it would be a warning sound/bell from like a computer or something. But I'm not getting a CEL or anything negative from it.

Re: new install question

Now from what i remember 1g bov come in a handful that make that leaky sound. Its not a leak or anything. I have the same situation and i thought it was the bov gasket, but it wasnt. As for the Greddy it might be the same situation. Play with the softer and harder settings and see what happens. I really wouldnt worry too much about it. Plus just get a ic leak tester and you will now where its coming from if it is a leak.

Re: new install question

Are you sure you aren't hearing the whine of the turbo's compressor blades slowing down? That sound only last for a second or so and is much more noticable after you make changes to the intake path.

No, it actually sounds like an electronic beep lol. Oh well, I'll play with the the harder/softer settings and go over the clamps again. But damn, it pulls harder now! hehe

Can't really tell. It kinda sounds like it's comming from inside. If I rev it from inside with my door open, it's pretty noticable. Anything else you can think of Gim? lol, you put it in

Re: new install question

A sound clip?

Rev it from the outside of the car and listen close to the BOV...

I'm pretty sure thats what the Greddy type-s bov is supposed to sound like. I've heard it in lots of dsm's and it always had like a bell sound after the actual blowoff... Have you listened to someone elses type-s bov to compare sounds?

Well, I was finally able to take some video clips with sound to let you all hear what I'm hearing. The sound will be pretty noticable. It isn't THAT annoying, but I would just like to know if there is something wrong or broken. If it is normal, I will just learn to live with it lol.

Here is the links to the videos on my site :

Thanks guys!

Re: new install question

Mine sounds just like your does. It's normal for this to happen when you have it set soft. Try turning it to the harder position a bit.
