Need Advice: 97 GSX
I have aquired a 1997 GSX basically for free. Problem, the car has a salvage title and still needs work. It was a front end collision both airbags deployed. Alot of work has already been done, the unibody was straightened and most of the body work was done. The car runs and drives but the airbags were not replaced. I'm not sure if I should spend the money to replace the airbags and the rest of the crap it needs to get the title cleared. Whadda ya think, Is it worth it????

Re: Need Advice: 97 GSX
Depends on how much you want to spend, how is the condition of the engine, how many miles, etc. If its not too expensive, do it because gsxs are really nice, especially since they get low times with not much money put into the engine.

Re: Need Advice: 97 GSX
I wouldn't replace the airbags. It's a salvage title. It's worth exactly half of wholesale. it would be a great car to fix up! but dont waste your time spending $$ getting it up to stock specs. Thats a great find.
I say gut the pig, and make it a road whore.

As far as I know (MA) nothing you can do will "clear" the salvage title. It will always have that on there to let future owners know that the car was bollixed at some point. So if this is the case, it just comes down to wether or not you want airbags.

Re: Need Advice: 97 GSX
You dont have to have airbags for the car to be legal and I'm pretty sure that once it has a salvage title, theres nothing you can do about it. I would get all the mechanical problems worked out and start the mod process.
