trouble codes????

i was just wondering how i check trouble codes on my 88 cherokee, does the computer itself flash the codes or does the engine light flash the codes????

Not sure, but I would guess its the engine light (that's what happens on my '92).

Try this:

Turn the key to ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON

It should flash the Check Engine light with any codes (count the flashes). It should end with a 55 (if I remember correctly).

Example: 55 = Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash-PAUSE-Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash-Flash
