Re: Speed Modules/Chips on ebay
I was taking a serious look at one of them. Then I started doing some research (a lot on the forum). The conclusion I came to is that I don't see how a generic chip is going to be able to program the computer in my truck for what I want and have. There's just too many variables. Also one thing I've discovered is that "cheap" tricks usually don't help and sometimes even make matters worse so I find it difficult to trust my truck's computer and engine to a $10 parlor trick. (Most who've tried it found it didn't help much if any at all). I tried the "tornado" air intake gizmo and some silly magnet dingy thing which went on the fuel line just befor the carb. I didn't pay much for either (eBay) which meant I didn't get much from either. The Tornado actually was more of a hinderance than a help.
Ergo, probably the best "computer" thing you can do is something like a Nelson Tune with a Hypertech Tune being a fairly decent 2nd choice (this was the option I took). There's a lot of dudes here which went that way and are happy yhey did. I hope this helps!!!

Re: Speed Modules/Chips on ebay
Get a Nelson tune. You will not be sorry. Bottom line.
If you put the money you've spent on all the things that probably won't work, you might have close to enough to get a tune.

Email me,slowprocess, blenderwizard, or jeverett and we can answer all your questions. None of us have anything but good things to say about the tune we have received.

Re: Speed Modules/Chips on ebay
He has run several if not hundreds of trucks on his dyno for mpg and performance. He knows by experiance what the changes will produce and won't quit changing the parameters until you get what you are looking for. All the changes come from past mapping on his dyno....

Re: Re: Speed Modules/Chips on ebay
If you live too far from San Antonio and cant see him personally his mail order is def. the way to go. But if you can get to San Antonio he can do a custom tune to you exact pickup, either on his dyno or a "street tune" This way you get real world loads on you engine and tranny and he can make the adjustments. You cannot go wrong with a nelson. Better driveability more power and more mpg. After my tune I got 2 mpg's better and when i moved back up to wa state pulling 4k extra weight could haul down the freeway at 85
It may seem pricey but totally worth the money
