install RPM gauge

I bought a sunpro 2-5/8in. tach for my 97 5spd cavy. I was told that I needed to know what wire to tap into. So I'm asking if anyone knows the right wire/ or has a wiring diagram. Also if the wattage isnt correct I would need an adapter. Is this true?

Thankx Guys

hey short i have a 2000 cavalier and have also a sun pro tach

u need a sun pro adapter for that car

when u bought the tach it came with a list of cars and models

look for ur 97 cavy and it will tell u if it needs an adapter

if it needs it ( which i think it will) it will tell u what color of wires

to tap in the ignition coil
is easy with the adapter and tach info

if u need more info lemme know and ill be happy to tell u all about it

theres 2 ways you can do this, you can get a tach adaptor, you can get any brand, its not like one will work better then the other, the one i have is from rksport, with the adaptor you splice it into 2 wires going into your coil pack, and at the other end of the adaptor is the wire you connect to your tach for the "signal"
if you dont wanna buy an adaptor, you can splice into a wire coming directly out of your PCM, you will need a tach that you can set to 2 cylinders for this though since you will only get half your reading this way, im not exactly which wire it is but im sure you can find out by doing an extensive search through these forums
