Need Help Re: Air Bag Light Code 41

I have a 95 Taurus SE that the air bag light began flashing several days ago. The Ford place said it was flashinga code 41 and that a sensor was bad. I assumed the air bag sys. would be faulty then, but the Ford guy said the system was OK and would work properly. I just needed to replace this sensor to stop the light from flashing ( at the cost of $355.00) Since the system is OK I said, let that bad boy flash then. $355 just to stop a light from flashing is NUTS. I asked a head Ford tech. where this sensor was located and he said under the driver seat. My service receipt where the mech. wrote on it shows " Air Bag Sensor radiator" and looks like two part #'s: 14B004 and 2F1Z14B006. Does anyone know anything about this sensor where it is actually located what it looks like and or where I can geta diagram and pictures of this. I want to try to replace it myself with a new sensor ($120.00) or from a junk yard. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Need Help Re: Air Bag Light Code 41

According to the information for my old '93 Taurus, a code 41 airbag code means primary crash sensor in the center console has an open in the feed or return lines. Code 42 is for the sensor mounted near the radiator.

Assuming your code really is a code 41, disable the airbag system and disconnect the center console sensor. Measure the resistance across the pink with orange tracer wire and the yellow with white tracer wire of the sensor. The resistance should be less then 2 ohms. If not, replace the sensor. If it is, then you probably have an open in one of the wires between the connection and the SRS computer.
