86 pontiac parisienne head light problems
This is driving me crazy! I have an 86 parisienne with a chevy 307 engine. I started the car the other night and both headlights went out! I turned the brights on just so I could get home and they worked. So, I have Hi beams but not low beams. My corner lights work when the high or low swtch is on.
Are these on a series circuit or something? Any ideas as how to fix this thing? I havn't had this much trouble figuring out an electrical system since working on my dads P.O.S. toyota truck!! *** things that may be contributing. I noticed that just before and after the headlites started doing this, the radio would go off every time I hit the breaks. After the lites started doing this, the radio would turn off when i hit the breaks and when I switched the lites from low beams to high beams. The dash lights would also dim when breaks came on and lites switched from low to high. |

I changed out the white 3 prong light switch under the dash, turned the lights on and the low beams worked again (while the car was off). I started the car up and the darn things shut off again.... still had high beams though?!?! What's up with that?
Also.... anyone know a way to get better gas milage outta my pimp mobile? Thought maybe a turbo or something. |

Re: 86 pontiac parisienne head light problems
My first thought is a bad ground circuit to the body.

Re: 86 pontiac parisienne head light problems
nope, I cleaned off all the billion freakinground connections and the low beams still won't work. The really wierd thing is when the hi beam cycle is switched on, both high beam lights come on and so do the 2 lights that stay low beam. Now why won't they turn on durring the low beam cycle? I'm almost considering picking up a custom switch and rigging it... just like every other GM and Ford product I've owned.... still havn't had to do that with any of our chryslers though.

Re: 86 pontiac parisienne head light problems
Finally figured out what the problem was!! Both low beam head lights blew. WTF is up with that?!?! Crazy Gm products never fail to amuse me. Anyways I changed out the head lights and the switch, now everything works great! Ohhh did help quite a bit to clean off all the ground points.
