Question 98 S10 Steering Wheel in a 96 S10??

Hello,

I want to replace my steering wheel in my 96 S10 blazer because it's got alot of wear and needs to be replaced. I found a steering wheel that looks exactly the same as mine, but it's listed as being compatible 98+, so ignoring that do u think it will fit in my 96? Here is a picture of the wheel I don't think it's really a 98 wheel I thought they were smaller

That wheel is exactly like the one in my 96. I see no reason why it would not work. Always makes me nervous working with the airbag components though so use caution.

RICK1488......
One important note: Disconnect the battery cables B-4 you do anything to the steering wheel on your truck, The air bag will not come out and accidently greet you at 180mph...

Yes, it can be done... Actually the newer wheels started in 99 not 98.. 98 while having the newer dash had the older steering wheels. (95-97). As said above, you will need to disconnect your battery for 15 mins before doing this and you will need the 99+ clock spring.

Here's mine in my 95..(yes I wired up the radio controls)

Note: Take it to the dealership afterwards to have the abs circuit tested to make sure it will deploy properly)

That new wheel looks sharp! What does the 99 wheel go for if u don't mind me asking? I don't have much experience in dealing with airbag wheels so what tools will I need? (I will disconnect the battery before messing around)

Thanks, RIck

I got the steering wheel off of ebay for 40 bux. A new airbag runs about 1400.00 but you could probably find it for 200 or so on ebay.
