Cooling Fan works erraticly but works fine when A/C on.
I have a 1991 Dodge Spirit 3.0L V6 engine.
When I run my car (without A/C), the radiator cooling fan works erraticly. Sometimes switching on before engine warms...Sometimes doesnt switch on even if engine becomes very very hot (when car engine is running but car is standing still and needs fan to cool radiator, but fan doesnt switch on sometimes). But, if the A/C cooling is switched on, the fan works perfectly and the temperature never reads very hot (goes to warm and stops as usual) I tried replacing the "coolant temperature sensor" and "gage temperature sensor". Still no luck. The car runs perfectly. No problems I am thinking it could be the relay. I am not sure 1. Is relay the problem? or sometime else? 2. I couldnt locate the relay. Where is it? Any suggestions? Thanks - Shreyas |

Re: Cooling Fan works erraticly but works fine when A/C on.
sounds like a relay, if your fans work when the A/C is on, the fans/wiring is ok. The fan HI/LO relay is sitting on your driver's side strut housing near the air snorkel and the computer.
