Changing tension rods
I need your advice on changing the front tension rod on a 98 240sx. I recently bought the tein pillow tension rods and wanted to install them, but the friggin nut won't come off my current ones b/c they are so corroded. I have a rigid 450 ft/lb torque impact wrench, i tried wd-40 on the bolts and some other lubricant i bought at kragens. I admit i'm not the strongest japanese dude, but WTF do i have to do to get those nuts off? Any advice? And even if I was able to get them off w/all yours help, should I try and find new nuts/bolts or can I reuse the old ones?
Thanks |

cut them off. Then yes you def. need new ones. Anything thats a total bitch to get off you should replace. As a general rule, if I dont know when something was last replaced, i usually just go ahead and replace it...good luck

Re: Changing tension rods
If the nuts are siezed, try using a butane torch. I had to do that to get my exhaust bolts loose, prob help with your situation..
