I just got a 2004 Elantra GLS

I must say, so far, I'm impressed with the quality of the vehicle. Of course, I did make the jump from a car well past its lifespan, so it will seem impressive to me.

Anyone else got a 2004 and any problems yet? I bought this used with 21,400 miles on it. Will be paying on it for a while, but I'm liking the long warranty and it seems to be a very well-built model. The engine has enough power for the car and the gas mileage seems to be fairly decent. Even through some rough driving I have gotten ~20MPG out of it, and now that I'm settling down with it, I should be getting more of around the 24-26 range that they say.

Also impressed that they used Iridium spark plugs right out of the warehouse.

Just to give you a heads up in case you don't know. Being that you are the 2nd owner, you only have a 5yr 60k mile warranty on it, so thats only 40k left on it, which isn't much, especially if you drive as much as my wife. I see 2nd owners all the time that bought their car used at another dealer, but nobody knew that 2nd owners only get 5/60. So just giving you a heads up in case you are thinking you have the 100k mile warranty.

Re: I just got a 2004 Elantra GLS

Five years is still pretty fair, IMO.

Our typical driving probably will end up being 100-125 miles a week, which amounts to about 600 miles a month. So it shouldn't be too overdriven. I plan to keep the car probably until 2010 or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Re: I just got a 2004 Elantra GLS

I put about 15k-20k a year on my car so hopefully this car is good for a LOT of miles!

2001 Elantra w/ about 70k on it

Re: I just got a 2004 Elantra GLS

I've got an '02 Elantra GLS with 101,455 miles on it. It runs better than my '95 Ford Escort LX did when that had 40,000 miles on it. My question is........ are you guys doing mods on your cars to only get 20-25 mpg? My low end for MPG has been around 28.
