No blinkers

For the past 2 MONTHS (I know) I have had no blinkers or hazards. The dash doesn't display the blinkers as well. A friend told me the flasher unit might be bad, so I bought one, but now I can't find it!!

I've looked through about 5 different fuse boxes, the owners manual, and have found nothing. A guy at Napa said I had the right part, so I'm wondering if someone can show me the light! Horrible pun.

Thank you!

Had the same problem with my wifes 97 taurus xl. This is a common defect in this car that is easily fixed but is time consuming to do. Inside the steering column is a wiring connector that connects the blinker switches with the rest of the lighting system. If this becomes disconected you will lose all funtionality with the blinkers. This usualy occurs because the steering wheel has been tilted in an abrupt manner. Tilting the steering wheel from the full upright to the full low position or vice versa very quickly can cause this connector to unplug. Repairing this requires disassembling the steering collumn and either plugging the connector back in or even better adding a longer cable assemble. Getting it lengthened isnt much more costly than simply having the problem fixed altogether as the part isnt that expensive. The highest cost comes from labor time. Having the local ford dealer fix this cost $220, 3/4 of which was labor time.

good luck
