My car still throws a check engine light for two things and I think it's the ECU. I currently have a 96 manual ECU in my car and two codes pop up, the evap vcv, and rear o2 sensor. I replaced the parts and they still come up.
When I put in my 97 auto ECU, those codes go away and just the auto-tranny codes pop up.
The 96 rear o2 sensor is 3 wire while the 97-98s use a 4-wire. I think the ECU is receiving another input that it doesn't recognize and it's setting off the CEL Something similar is probably going on with the EVAP vent control valve. If anybody has a manual 97-98 ECU i can buy or rent, let me know. I just need this to pass inspection. The sooner the better.
