Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

Heading out to the highschool drags here today at 4pm to run my first time slip. And try my best to blow my T-25 up. It should be good times. I'm going to bring my digital camara with me just incase somthing is worth snapping a picture at. Like maybe an AWD 95 dodge colt running 4g63t 2.3 stroker, GT35R, shep tranny @ 1600 lb.

Lol. we'll see if he show up tonight.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

I doubt i'll get anything better then 14.5. It is my first time ever running off a tree. besides that, I'm really going to help a buddy tune his GST. he just put on his safc2 and evo16g. I'm the pussy car of the bunch. everyone else has 50trims, gt35r's, evo16g's. Ahh well.

He said he can log knock on his safc2 by the way he wired it up. I gota see that!

I doubt 25psi will blow my compressor apart. But if it does i'lll just get the scm61 on the credit card. It's the least expensive 60lb/min turbo out there. $699. not to mention 1year race warrenty.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

I did hear there is some bosch knock sensor you can buy and monitor with the AFC2. I don't know anything about it though. If he's only using the stock sensor, its still useless.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

Well. Just got back. I hope everyone reambers their first time! I know I will. I ran 3 times before the brackets started. I passed on the idea of running in a bracket with my car. oppertunity prosented it's self and off to drink beer I went! $4 for a 24 ounce can of coors light Isn't bad. Im really supprised they even had it!

Any way i think i flat out KICKED ASS for my first time on tree's. Here are copies of the slips from tonight in order. I'm on the left on ever slip..Needless to say i was absolutly dumb-founded with the results!

I can't believe my t-25 hit that 1/4 time! on stock clutch, stock tranny, stock fuel system, stock exhaust, stock wheels, tires, and suspention! WOW! Matter of fact, the only mod's I have are FIPK filter, E-bay POS hard intake pipe, $10 ebay MBC, dejon tool UICP & 1g bov. thats it!

Mission accomplised. I think i blew my turbo! there is no other explination for the white smoke coming out of my exhasut durring shifts. White smoke Massivly poors out of my muffler after 1/4 mark when i let off the gas. No smoke comes out at all when the car is under boost, crusing or idle. Only after heavy acceleration and durring shifts. Boost still feels pretty strong. I'm pretty sure I blew the compressor wheel or water seal. I'll take the intake off on Sunday and check shaft play.

How do i check if i blew the water seal?

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

congrats man, thats a beautiful time there...... How much boost were you running. BTW nice 60ft's also especially for your first track day. I can't wait for mine. Hope to be hitting at least mid 12's on my 15psi 60-1 turbo.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

I think i was spiking at 22 and leveling off at 19. I never actually payed attention. I Ajusted it 3-4 diffrent times. I think the last run were I hit .1421 reaction and 14.08 1/4 I was at 22psi. shifting at 6.5k in second, 6k in third, 7k in forth. Im sure i was heat soked from my srock sidemount

I'm just stoked about that t-25 1/4 time. not very common.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

Well, After sleeping last night, waking up and looking at that slip agian. I'm still shocked..

I have my Megan Racing 3in DP downstairs waiting for me to do somthing with it. Meitike quoted $150 installed for a 3in catback that will match up to the DP. For sure that would drop me into the 13.9 range on my stock turbo. If i could get my hands on DSMLINK I know i could be Tune this bitch out and maybe hit 13.5.

For the people who are wondering why im so stoked. 13.13 is the fasted recorded t-25 time. Not to far away.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

I uh...never thought I'd say this to anyone, really. But, congrats on blowing your turbo !

And that ET on the slips is amazing dude. The T-25 is a pretty ok turbo for its size. I ended up blowing mine almost the same way you did (intentions were different though, lol) by upping the boost too much, but the car was fast while it lasted, I loved every minute of it!

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

Sweet man i ran a 13.7 on my t25 with all stock clutch, tranny, well everything stock except intake and 3 inch exhaust, now alot of stuff done and bringing it up to the track tuesday for the 1st time this year. Let me see if i can dig up my slip and compare my 60 foot to yours.

Re: Going to try and blow up my turbo in 2 hours!

13.7 was hte best I could do with a t25. Only mods were exhaust, intake, 1g BOV/UICP. I had no fuel control at the time. I think 14.2 was my best on pump gas though. I said screw it and put the 14b on before I could do any more mods

On my 1g you couldnt run past 16/17 psi or else you would hit fuel cut, how could you run 22psi on the stock fuel system, and also past a certain psi isnt the heat that turbo is making cancel the horsepower isnt it just as effective at 16psi, i thought 2gs were the same, the t25 better than the 14b they are very similar i thought?
