Question 2001 Explorer Sport Trac - 2 problems

1. My truck has no problem turning over but dies the minute you take your foot off the gas.

2. I went and bought a new fuel but can't figure out how to take to the current one off. My dad and my neighbor were confused as well.

Any ideas?

If your truck will not idle, but runs well otherwise, and you can keep it running by popping the pedal with your foot, replace your idle air control valve. Its fairly easy, instructions can be had by searching the net if you need them.

You bought a new fuel filter is what you mean? There is a small plastic tool called a fuel line disconnect tool. Get a set at the parts store - the 3/8 tool works best for ford fuel lines. When you look at the line, you will think you need the 5/16, but it doesn't do the trick.

Problem solved. It was the air control valve which needed to be fixed. Thank you to exploded99 for the input.
