Angry fans dead

alright.. it takes a while for my car's temperature to rise, even longer if i go on the freeway, it stays below the midpoint so i know my cooling system isnt at fault. But yeah my fans dont turn on at all.. not the primary one nor the second one. Not even when i turn on the AC.. i did that to test it cause the fans are suppose to turn on when the AC is on (correct me if im wrong) so yeah.. what could be the problem? fan motor dead? wiring? fuses? what are other possibilities..hopefully it isnt something too severe.

Re: fans dead

Erg, feel your pain these sytems are so simple yet so buried and frustrating.

How hot has the motor gotten? (do you know when your fans normally come on, s/b around 230*)

The secondary (right side) should come on with the a/c, it may take a a minute or so, manifold pressure has to build to close the switch and activate that fan.

The primary is controlled off a switch in the right cylinder head between cyl 6 & 8. You could pull the wire (green I think) off the switch and ground it to see if the fan runs.

Atleast that will get you started.

If it does run by doing the green wire thing, then you gotta replace the thermostat, I would check your owner's manual, find out what fuses are your cars fan motor fuses and check if they're blown.

Re: fans dead

Wire the fan to the battery and ground and see if it works. Then instal a manual switch with a relay to activate it manually. Its fun too. Fuck all those fan relays and temp switches.(one of them is your problem or a bad ground may be)
I run my car at minimum operating temp all the time with the switch.Your engine will thank you when in a traffic jam.

Re: fans dead

i feel u man, my fan died on me 2 weeks ago, 70 bucks to get a new motor. if the right fan is out the second one wont run at all, it runs off the first fan so that sucks ass.

Re: fans dead

Wire shit or the relay got free, or the CTS suddenly worked. If its not the wires it will happen again.
