For a 79, its actually reasonable. Note the fact that 79 model cars now are considered classics making their price shoot up. BUT the guy is asking a bit much if you ask me, if I were you i'd try to bring him down ATLEAST to 10K if you can do that then i'd definately take it.

Re: can you gimme good price estimate?

Yup, that's a bit pricy for a '79... That was the HIGHEST year of production for TransAm (just over 108K made). If your car has the shaker scoop and fender "vents", it's a T/A, not a Firebird (separate models in '79).
The vast majority of '79s had the 403 and TH350, a well. If it's silver, with silver leather seats, it's a 10 Year Anniversary car and not worthless. Otherwise, it's nothing really special. If the paint is good, the seats are good, and there's ZERO rust, it's probably worth about $8K. If it were a 400 Pontiac and a 4-speed, the $13K isn't out of line. They didn't make very many of those...
Unlike the pre-'75 models, something isn't automatically valuable just because it's old. It takes some thing "special" about it to make it more valuable than the average.
Still, a car with a VERY high level of potential performance. Damn pretty, too!
