Stalls in gear when hot, ok in park and reg driving
Drive the jeep for about 3 1/2 hrs, slow down to stop and the thing stalls, drive with two feet to the gas station, fill up, jeep starts fine and idles like a kitten. Drop down into gear and she stalls, starts right back up idles fine, drop into gear and stalls. Start up again drive with two feet onto the expressway no problems. This happened with all different fuel levels from 1/4 - full. Fuel pressure checked good. The next day, everything is fine. Three days later driving back the same thing happens. Any thoughs?

Re: Stalls in gear when hot, ok in park and reg driving
does it stall violently, shakes before it stalls, like when you place it in gear does it lunge then stall?
Sounds like a bad Torque Converter - torque Converter is lock-up. |

Nope, just dies. I read something that the fuel pump gets hot and the fuel tank should kept over 1/2 but I don't think this it it. I called a sevice tech and he said that the throttle body and the IAC should be cleaned because that is what controls the idle circuit, after you press on the throttle the computer takes over. Any thoughts?

Well, I could almost guarentee it's not the Fuel Pump, if the fuel pump were bad and shutdown you would have to wait about 15 minutes before it cools enough to restart.
The IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) and Throttle Body are possiblities. |

Mine is doing something similar. I read that the rpm's should remain constant when you put the vehicle in drive, engage the ac, or work the power steering pump. If they don't then there is a chance it is the IAC.
