Thumbs down Possible Fuel Pump Problem

So I was driving to work today when all of a sudden my car just stalls out. I pulled over to the side of the road and tryed to start back up. It would turnover and start for about half a second and then quit. The fuel pump seems to sound fine when I turn the key to ignition, but the car just won't start. I had the same thing happen to me about 9 months ago. My father-in-law replaced the fuel pump. He said the filter on the pump was extremely clogged, but he just replaced it anyway. It ran like a top up until this morning. I really don't want to have to put in a new fuel pump, but I really don't know what else it could be. That fuel pump should've lasted longer than 9 months! Has anyone else had this happen or does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.
