exhaust

I was thinking about getting a GReddy exhaust or some kind of universal exhaust system for my car, but I'm not sure. What will the GReddy exhaust do for my car compared to a universal one? Does anyone have any suggestions?

for one, the GReddy exhaust will make real horsepower because of it's smoother flowing exhaust line...all the universal mufflers uses the stock pipes and basically what you get is just the sound.
since the exhaust is a complete line, not just an universal add-on that fits all the cars, why not get something that's designed for the car? let me know if you are interested thanks!

If I get custom piping done and add a universal muffler will that make a difference? How much hp will the Greddy gain and how much will a universal with custom piping gain?

well, since it's your car, it's up to you...the quality of the pipes being used in Greddy is top notch...i dont know about the pipes they use in muffler shops...some just throw on thin, cast iron pipes that would rust...even if you requested aluminum piping, with all the bending they have to do, the diameter always almost shrink due to allthe bends. To bend the pipes properly requires the proper tools and pipes which most muffler shops wont offer.
i believe greddy engineers are a bit more knowledgable in producing the proper exhaust than your local muffler guy...tha'ts my opinion...of course, i am saying this is to try to sell you the exhausts that i have, but even if i am not, i would still recommend the Greddy ehxaust than soemthing custom made.

$540 shipped to your door. If you are interested but want to wait for a group deal, i am collecting deposits right now and if we can get around 10 people within a week, i can lower the price to $525 shipped. Let me know thanks!

The Remus is an excellent muffler. It's quiet (barely louder than stock) but has a great low tone too it that is just about perfect IMHO. There was a thread about this a while back.

If you have a P10, the GReddy is an ugly fit. It hangs down low and just doesn't really look right. It's also a little loud for my tastes. I have a GReddy on my B13 SE-R. It's OK. I have driven a P10 with a GReddy and didn't much care for it. I've driven one with a Remus and absolutely love it.

If you have a P11 I'm afraid I have zero experience with it.

As for power, don't expect more than 3-5 hp with any exhaust unless you have a turbo. Mike Kojima's SCC Project SE-R only gained 3 hp with the GReddy.

If you have a custom exhaust made, try to find someone who can make a mandrel bent exhaust. Mandrel bends are constant diameter throughout the bend and this is the best way to do it. Almost all muffler shops just crush bend the pipes and that's not as good as madrel bent. You could also see if someone will put together a mandrel bent exhaust for you if you supply the mandrel bends. You can buy U bends and they just have to cut the bends to the correct angles and weld the pipes together. It's not as complicated as it sounds.

i have a 95 p10 and dont like the tip of the greddy exhaust. would it affect the airflow if i just welded on a new tip? i want to weld a dual dtm instead of that cone shaped one for the MX.

the Greddy for the P10, is the MX..which is very old and the design goes waay back.
Finding a mandrel bending muffler shop won't be easy (and costly) and some would tell you they do even though they dont (this is coming from experience). plus quality of the pipe should also be of concern.
the GReddy for the P11 is the EVO style which is newer and looks a thousand times better than the MX or the SP.
