What would happen if I didn't immediately replace a faulty air pump

Excuse my ignorance...what does this part do? Can it cause serious damage if I were to drive for the next month without replacing it? The service engine soon light is on...had air pump fuse replaced....light came back on in 20 miles....dealer says the pump is faulty....2001 Blazer LT.

Check to see if it has some water in it.

Unplug the hoses from it and see if some water drains out.

This sometimes will fix it.
