99 civic dx alarm problems HELP

hey guys,
my car's alarm is acting really wierd. i tried to start my car this morning and as it doesn't start instead the alarm goes off and keeps beeping for about a whole minute. i've tried starting it numerous times and it's the same case. i don't understand why it's doing that because i'm using my keys to open the door and using my keys to start it. i did happen to find a tiny little switch about the size of a quarter and it's black and has a push in/out switch that says ON/OFF. on the bottom of the switch it says CARBINE and it's like a mini plug that is supposed to plug into something. i found it on the floor in between the gas and the brake pedal and i think it has something to do with the alarm. can anyone help me? i don't know what to do!!!
