intake question

ok i know that everyone says that and intake is an intake and it doesn't matter about the brand, but can u really trust a fifty dollar intake off of ebay? i'm looking at the injen short ram (does anyone have this i really want some feedback) and the k&n. i want a really good intake, and like i said can u really trust a cheap no-name. sorry for bringin this up again but i want the best that i can get.

Re: intake question

The Injen intake is a HUGE waste of money and you are just paying for the name. They dont even give you the whole intake you have to use your stock intake elbow. You could just spend ~$60 and get a K&N and adapter and be good to go. And yes an intake is an intake.

Re: Re: intake question

I wouldnt even spend $50 on the crappy Injen "intake". There was an Injen rep who signed up on 3si trying to push the product. He claimed 22 hp to the wheels on a SOHC ATX 3s. The numbers he provided showed peak power at 6500 rpm. Funny thing is SOHCs hit rev limit at 6250. When people asked for a dyno chart he disappeared never to be seen again. Just because its made by Injen doesnt make it a better intake than the cheap ones bought on Ebay.

Re: intake question

listen to Stealthee, he knows what he's talking about. and really, an intake isn't even worthy of being called a mod, it just allows your engine to breath easier, especially in the upper rpms. it will also make your engine a little louder, and that will make you think you've got all this great new horsepower...but no. maybe 5hp, so don't get your hopes up. and intake is an intake, just get the cheap ones.

and don't worry about unfiltered air... the filter is just their to block dust and other larger-than-air particles...ANY intake can accomplish that simple task.

(and yes, i do now regret spending 100 bucks on my K&N. i coulda spend half that and put the extra 50 towards something more meaningful...like a nice juicy medium rare cooked steak...mmmm )

breathing is a huge plus for turbo charged cars.

you can get more than 5 ponies from an k&n in a tt, actually double that

(not saying he has one, but just clearing it up a little so he knows there is a diff)

K&N like they mentioned above is the best way to go

i knew a guy before i had my vr4 who had a 94 vr4 and he tried 3 different types of intake, and the plain K&N gave him the best response
