Wink Safe Supercharge Boosting

I've got a 1990 Integra GS and I am currently building a B18b which will be accompanied by a 6psi JR S/C kit. I'm planning on building up the block: rods, pistons (flat top), new OEM seals and bearings. I want to leave the head stock (all valves/cams are in really good condition) and get all possible machine work done (honing the block/ decking the head & block, balancing the rotating crank assembly, hot tanking everything!) before I mate the head and the block with ARP head studs. I then plan on adding an AEM fuel rail & pressure regulator so I can run a little rich. I also was gonna go with a 9:1 CR. This project is moving faster than I expected so I'd really appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have for it. What am I missing?

Get a boost upgrade kit, it's like 500 and will be much better than not having it(higher boost, and more reliability overall)

Re: Safe Supercharge Boosting

You're missing a GT28r(s) turbo, 24x10x3 intercooler, charge pipes, equal length tubular manifold, BOV, Tial 38mm wastegate, OBD1 ECU conversion running Chrome Pro or Uberdata, and w/o all of this, you're missing FUN!

You'd be much better off w/ a turbo kit on that built engine rather than a supercharger!

Re: Safe Supercharge Boosting

you dont need to build the block or drop compression for the jrsc. you dont need the aem rail or fpr. for the jrsc, what you will need is engine management and the correct supporting mods. you can find that in a search, because, it is all over the net.

if your gonna build, you might as well go turbo. that m45 blower is not going to take you very far on that built block. im pretty sure you knew that already since you planned on building the block and been researching

Re: Safe Supercharge Boosting

can sent the JRSC to T.O.O. and get it rebuilt to spool up to 24psi...but will cost you an extra like $3000

and still be coming up short.

TOO is full of shit its that simple, if his claims were 1/5 as good as he said everyone would run S/C compared to a nice turbo or mean all motor build price would be same so cost really isn't a factor to compare the blower work.

TOO = suck
S/C = suck

Okay...

The first response is what I'm really interested: what kind of kit shoulkd I get and why?

I don't want to go turbo... At least not yet (and I don't want to start a war like what happened in the thread: "Blower???"). A turbo will cost me at least $2,000 more than an $1,800 JR s/c... plus you've got to do all that extra stuff that "Schister66" mentioned: intercooler...

superbluecivicsi, what kind of engine management do you suggest? Why don't I need an upgraded fuel rail, dont i need to run rich? And what is my stock compression? B/c I thought 9 was alread pretty low.

Further note: I'm sure those of you that have viewed my plan already can see I'm choosing reliability over speed. Eventually I may get a turbo but I've never owned a car w/ a blower (#1) and don't forget that I'm going from an oil burning, aging 130hp motor to a B18b with an extra 39 or so HP and an extra 25-35lbs/ft of torque. Plus I like the idea of the power always being on tap as opposed to a turbo but again... the non-turbo decision is mostly related to budget.... stupid newbie question: do you even get more torque from a turbo? I guess it depends on the amount of boost. I appreciate your guy's help with this... keep it coming!!!!

Re: Safe Supercharge Boosting

if your going to go jrsc and do it right and get the most of it, there is alot to cover. with the b18b and the m45 blower, there are some limitations to that particular blower that you should be aware of. i can answer your questions, but, i believe it would serve you more and better if you searched this site for its valauble search info. there are many members there that are extreme jrsc enthuisiast that will provide you with valuable info. it is one of the most dedicated jrsc sites you will ever find on the net that deals with the jrsc. though it is kinda slow right now, you should definately search its archives, because, 99.99% of your questions and future questions are covered there concerning the jrsc.

http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/ult...bb/forum/f/110

if you are serious about the jrsc, search that site. all your questions above are answered in that site. search it, and you will come across new questions and your urge to research will just naturally grow.

First of all, no. You can pick up a turbo kit with a tubular AC compatible manifold, a GT35R, a 3" downpipe, and an intercooler for about 3800 bucks from fab-works. Their basic intercooled non AC kit with a T3/TO4E 57-trim is about 2800 dollars. You're going to get ass-fucked buying a shitty JRSC that you're going to be sick of in a week, and end up getting virtually nothing when you sell it and go turbo in the long run.
