Angry Help Fast

ok i was driving my car to a car show today and my car just stoped running, for real. It just crankes but does not start, every now and then it will fire up and die just as quick, even with the peddle down. Its a 90 mustang 302, with bbk cold air intake, msd igniton, flow masters, i do have duel 3g 200 amp alt. for my stero and what i noticed is, on the one were the power wire goes is a little melted. i took the gas lines off to see if it was getting gas and it is, the fuel pump turns on. i took one of the spark plugs out and then tryed to start it to see if i had a spark and i did not. i just bought the msd igtion so i dont think that is it. and it cant be the msd box if it starts and then it quits you know what i mean. so what do you think it is help please quick thanks.

Re: Help Fast

No spark, could be the ignition modual on the distributor.

You did ground the spark plug against the chassis, I hope.

Glad you got it. Thats what I was going to suggest as well. Its a very common problem with fords. Early EFI Fords anyway.

Re: Help Fast

measure the voltage and amps going to the module.

Did you find out why the wire you mentioned melted? Sounds like you have an electrical overload or intermitent short somewhere.
