S10 44 Error
My 1989 4.3l S10 Blazer Has A Service Engine Light That Comes And Goes. It's Gas Mileage Has Gone Down. Error Code 44 They Say Is For Running Lean, but This Is Doing The Opposite. Tried To Change O2 Sensor But It's Mounted On Top Of The Crossoverpipe Where I Can't Get To It.does Anyone Have Any Ideas Of What Might Be Causing This Problem?

Re: S10 44 Error
Sorry that I can't answer your question, but with the oxy sensor you can get a muffler shop to weld a bung onto your exhaust pipe in a better spot and put an oxy sensor there instead. Just leave the old one in place.
Good luck with the prob |

trouble code 44 will sometimes trip with, or prior to code 55.
check your ground strap and terminal connection to ECM. if not then: hook-up a test terminal: ground to ground, dwell meter to M/Csolenoid (naturally on 6-cylinder mode) run engine @3000RPM and check dwell: 10-50degrees= O2 sensor under 10degrees: could be air leak in emissions and/or exhaust, vacuum leak @ TBI, bad computer.--- way to check this: disconnect O2 and connect multimeter to BAT (+) which is purple wire (at the ECM NOT the O2); set meter on 20volt scale check dwell @ idle-3000RPM if it is still under 10degrees probably bad ECU, if fluctuating or increase steady= bad ground or bad O2 USE A DIGITAL VOLTMETER/MULTIMETER, not a needle meter as they have too little a resistance. hope this helps, chris nrt racing |
