3800 Engine Removal - Tips/Comments?

Alright, This engine ran dry on oil once or twice and was driving enough distance to have caused serious damage.

So, Im going to try to get a engine from one of the local junkyards and pull this one out.

Im good with my hands, and ive done intermediate stuff with cars, but I've never pulled an engine and the only thing thats going to be helping me through this is my haynes manual, common sense, and hopefully, you guys.

Is there anything I should be expecting that could be a problem, and could someone give me an idea on what I might expect to pay for another used engine?

Im pretty tight on money, but we're I live and commute to, not having a car is not an option so im gonna have to do this.

Thanks alot!

Richard

When you pull the old engine out make sure you label everything on the wiring harness. This makes things go back together a whole lot easier. While you have the engine out you may want to change motor mounts since this is an ideal time do it. Before putting the new engine in I also recommend you change the oil pan gasket. These are known to go bad and you practically have to pull the engine to remove the pan. Finally don't forget to support the transmission. This will keep everything in alignment and will help you to put things back together easier.
