89 model for 95 engine swap

hello everyone i am new here. I hope i get some good help here ive read nothing but good things about this forum....
My problem is this i have an 89 cherokee that has a ruined engine.so i have bought a wrecked 95 model cherokee to take the engine out of and put into my 89 model.I know ill have to change some things to make it work but they are both straight six engines.will i have any major problems with this swap? and will the 89 model tranny bolt up to the 95 model engine both tranny's are automatics.i have been told the torque converter wont bolt to the 89 flywheel....rsvp soon please i am starting on this engine swap friday morning..thanks for your replies..joe

If both engines are 4.0L engines, I would think that it should work.. Not sure when the 4L replaced the 4.2L....

There might be some other differences that others could fill you in on too.

It will work. I had a 1997 cherokee engine put into my 1989 cherokee earlier the summer and it works great.
