sunroof problems and key stuck in door....please help

i have a 93 mazda mx-6 with an electronic sunroof and when i try to open it nothing happens!!! i can hear the motor thing trying to open it. it's like it's stuck or something. it has a key for emergency use, but i haven't tried to open it that way yet. anybody have any ideas on whats going on with it?? also there is a key broken off in the door, i tried to get it out with a pair of needle nose plyers but had no luck, is there any other way i could get it out??? thanks to anyone who has any suggestions!!

Sounds like the gear on the motor is stripped out. To remove the key you can try using a small blade for a scrolling saw- can get it at a hardware store for less than a dollar. Stick it in and try to "rake" the key out.
