2000 Silverado 4.3 after fill up gas gauges reads empty until put into drive or brake
Hello all.. My dad has a 2000 Silverado 1500 series with a 4.3 and whenver he fills it up with gas the gas gauge goes right down to empty and stays there until he applys the brake or puts it into gear. Any suggestions why it would do this?

sending unit. Happens to me too. I just havent gotten around to picking one up yet. Im doing it myself due to it being TONS cheaper. You can get the whole fuel pump/sending unit at www.gmpartsdirect.com for i think $210. The dealer wanted $422 just for the damn part.

yep its the sending unit , had something simaler happen in my 01 with the 4.3 the gas gauge would just jump around when the truck would be sitting still
