Goood afternon everybody:
This is something I spot when filling my gas tank. My van has the gas filling cap on the drivers side, when filling the gasoline tank, and when is just about filled, it does not make the "gurgling" noise every van or car makes when tank is about reaching the top. Instead mine throws the gas through the "Pipe vents" to the floor, I ducked and found that the thick filling pipe has two smaller pipes attached, one bigger in diameter than the other, and they are connected to no where, that is I can see the 2 pipe holes dripping gas when underneath. Funny as it may sound It does not spill gas on turns nor from the tank nor the filling pipe or the smaller ones, but it has a very strong gasoline odor, every time I fill the tank. Mi cuestion is, (maybe stupid) where do I connect the two smaller pipes, one probably goes on top of the tank I think it is a 5/8" hose, and maybe I have to lower the gas tank to do that, but the other one? maybe a 1/2" hose, where do I connect it? should I use an Auto Zone regular gas hoses or are they specialty hoses? Could this situation lead to an OBD-II code to show? Any input will be appreciated. |

This is just an educated guess, but my thought is that the bigger one will go back into the tank either on the top or near where the main filler tube goes into the tank. The small one will most likely go up to the engine compartment for the emissions system. It seems like it may cause an error to show up in the codes also because you have an open fuel system.
I would investigate and fix it as soon as possible mainly because of the fire hazzard it poses. Try removing the spare and seeing if you can get to the top of the fuel tank from the back. Hope this helps |
