AC leak out of Low pressure fill point...

The GF went to an AC shop because the AC in her 99 wrangler 4.0 HO was not working. They purged the system, filled, and checked it for leaks.

2 weeks later, the AC was not working.

There is a bunch of florescent green leak detection juice all around the low pressure fill point. Looks as though the stem valve under the fill cap did not reseat.

Question 1: Are these stem valves removable like on tires? Or, to replace these stem valves do you have to put a whole new tubing section into the system?

Question 2: Should I just stick a can of R134 (with leak stop) into the system to see if it will stop the leak, or should she drive BACK home to the shop 100 miles away (Without AC...) and have them fix it?

I'd take it back to the shop; there should have been some sort of warranty on their work. They should refill for free, and only charge her for replacing the valve (IF that)

So, that type of valve HAS a replaceable stem valve? (Like a tire?)

Without looking at it, I wouldn't know for sure. If it's a nut on the end, then obviously it could be screwed off and replaced. If it's all one piece, then the entire unit might need replacing. But I'd check the warranty on their work....

Receipt seems very convoluted. If I send the GF back, they'll try to rake her over the coals again. They had the gall to charge her $4/ounce for R-134a freon!!!! (Cans of the stuff @ walmart are 12 oz for $11...)

I charged in 6 ounces of r134, and the compressor fired right up. There was no obvious bubbling or leaking from the LP side fill port. If it leaks again, I'll go up to the shop with her and crack skulls...
