Re: help for sunday

running lean
timing is incorrect
incorrect rad
pressure loss due to old hose/cracked tanks ect
blocked coolant passages
poor thermostat
clogged pre-cat

There are ALOT of things that can effect cooling in a car. Just start with basics and if nothing arises start on the more complex things. Inspect the cooling system in detail. Pressurize it ALOT and see if you can find any leaks, or swells.

Then work up from there.

Re: help for sunday

yup
I have run into it from time to time.

The pre-cat just ends up holding alot of exhaust pressure where you dont want it. Then the block takes on the heat and its transfered to the coolant.

Timing can play a big roll in overheating, but chances are its a combination of two or more of these issues causing the problem.
