Synthetic Gear Oil for the tranny Synthetic Gear Oil for the Rear end Synthetic motor Oil for the engine Aluminum drive shaft Aluminum Flywheel Electric Water Pump Light weight clutch like the Centerforce LMC clutch or a Spec Clutch with the lightweight option. Lightweight aftermarket rims 2 Piece rotors All that will decrease rotational mass, thus reducing the effort of the engine to move the rotational mass of your driveline. Change your differential gear ratio to 2.73's or 3.08... which will slow you down, but will increase your milage...... but make it worse on any steep hills or mountains, because you will need to shift down a gear because of less torque at the wheels. Last thing..... lean out your fuel ratio slightly more..... if your brave ![]() There you go, the ticket to getting more mileage out of your cars...... **EDIT If that's still not enought......... then get the following: Aftermarket seats, because they typically weight about half as much as stock. Aftermarket K-member Tubular A arms Tubular Lower Control Arms Tubular Upper Control Arms Coil over shocks all the way around. Remove the Mach 460 or Mach 1000 if you have it. Swap to a manual rack. Carbon Fiber Hood Carbon Fiber Decklid Carbon Fiber Side scoops Drill 1 inch holes in your bumper bars. Remove the back seat Titanium Exhaust. Get your axles riffle drilled

CAI, intake, and exhaust

Re: Need Better gas mileage
CAI does nothing. How would an intake increase gas mileage? How does exhaust increase your mileage when you are revving to higher rpms than normal driving would consist of to enjoy your aftermarket exhaust?

the gears, he actually went to 3:45's. Removal of the Mach 1000 Carbon Fiber Decklid Carbon Fiber Side scoops Light weight rims and Manual rack and he actually gained 5 miles per gallon and 3/10ths in a quarter mile. He went thru two sets of axles....... both him and the machine shop didn't realize that the differential fluid would come out the axle shafts... so he had a second set drilled out. Then he told me about it, and that's when I told him he was suppost to tap and die set on the outside end and screw in a bolt..... DOUH! I think he spent about $400 for the work. He also had the ring gear shaved a bit, and drilled holes in the accessory brackets in the engine bay. He also went thru his entire wiring harness and removed every unused end, and stripped out the sound deadning material. His final weight was 3019lbs from 3367lbs on the scales, give or take about 30lbs for fuel. Last I heard, he was swapping in a DOHC motor and a 6 speed, and a 8.8 inch. Oh it was a V6 that he bought for dirt cheap... he benefited from someone's bankruptcy. He's gonna have one hell of a track car....

Coast when you can, I always coast to stops. It helps a lot. And of course what silver said, is right on the money.

Re: Need Better gas mileage
What about Cold Air Intake? Alot of them advertise that it can increase gas milage 2-3mpg. Is that true?

Re: Need Better gas mileage
i wouldnt think by 2-3 mpg. thats going on the theory that if your car has better flow it makes more power... meaning it doesnt have to work as hard. but a cold air intake doesnt give u that much more power...
