What is this noise?
I drive a '95 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS and for about a week now I've been having a high piteched squeeling from my engine bay. Logically I changed the the power steering pump and a/c compressor belt. The noise was still there so we checked the tensioner, took it out and serviced it. The noise was still there, so I don't know what I should check next. The noise comes from the front area near the power steering pump. Could that be making the noise? and if so only replacing it will fix it? or could it be something else?

Did you check any of the other belts? It could be the main serpentine belt or the alternator belt. On my car the alternator belt squeels a little bit on moist days, but goes away after the car warms up for a few minutes.

Re: What is this noise?
it is the main belt that i changed. i didn't change the alternator belt because the noise isn't comin from down in the area that is. Is centralled in the power steering pump area.
