Valve cover & intake gasket leak

I drive a 91 grand marquis wagon. My mechanic says it would cost around 500 to take care of the leaks. Obviously thats a lot of cash when youre dealing with a 600 car. Can a newbie with a haynes manual do this or not? Are there any walkthroughs online? Anything I should know before I give it a try?

Thanks

Re: Valve cover & intake gasket leak

Haynes manual should do it for you. You will need to clean mating surfaces really good and have a torque wrench for installation. You can do this without removing the distributor, so timing will not be an issur. Just be careful when installing, cause you have to angle and slide the intake in under the distributor. Have fun and good luck.
