Help.... IT WONT START! ('88 NA)

I just got home from being gone 2-3 months and my 88 NA wont start.

I think my old viper alarm drained the battery down. I have another battery hooked up to it right now, and the 944 gets power... but still wont start. I tried giving it gas while cranking it, but it seems like the gas pedal isnt doing anything. The tachometer doesn't move.

I ripped out the alarm just to isolate thas as a problem. The engine will crank but doesnt get turn over. It seems like it is not getting fire. Any suggestions of what to look at?

Usually it's the fuel pump or DME relay... um...have someone turn over the car while your head is by the fuel pump to see if you can hear it whine or feel it vibrate. (It’s behind the rear passenger wheel) If its working check fuel pressure at the rail, loosen the bolt at the front of the fuel rail, see if there is pressure. If there is, check for spark. I'm not sure what the exact procedure is for this... Some people ground the end of a spark plug (that's hooked up) some just set it there. Turn it over and see if it sparks, just don't get shocked. This will get you somewhere.

Are you saying I can check the fuel pressure w/out a fuel pressure gage? Because I cant seem to find one anywhere.

I'm not too sure how to check the spark either, Im waiting on someone on another forum to get back to me.

thanks

you don't need a gauge. If you loosen the bolt a little some fuel will start dripping out because of the pressure. If you take the bolt out futher it will start spraying...then you would be sure.
