99 rapid clicking relay

hearing a rapid clicking from the fuse box under the hood. Pulled a clicking relay out and it stopped. Has been know to drain the battery. Problem is intermitent. Goes away when relay is replaced. Comes back in time. 99 Windstar 3.8L.

What position is the relay? This will tell a lot of what's causing the problem. Do you have a book that you can look up what each relay does in each position? If you don't have a book goto the Lib. and check one out. Also, Some Libs have ALL-Data available on their computer system.

Well....???? I would say.....(and this is without looking at a wire diagram) that there is either a loose conection between your computer and the relay or your computer is bad. You would have to look at a diagram and see if it's the computer that directly triggers the coil on the relay. Have you taken the bad relay's cover off and took a look inside? Are the points burnt?
