idling/stalling

Help-I have an 99 Audi 1.8TQ that stalls intermittently. It will sometimes stall when I come to a stop or slow down and take a sharp turn. It acts like it wants to stall and when I give it a little gas it simply chugs and will not rev up. It usually just stalls and then when I restart it is fine. Unfortunately this happens when pulling out into traffic so I would like to figure this out quickly. Help

i know

this happenned to me a while back wen some guy put in a k&n filter wrong and broke my intake.

if our rpm fluctuate randomly and your car stalls this is what it might be

your mass air flow sensor has gone bad or your vacuum hose is broken
it was boththings in my case

Re: idling/stalling

I have a 98 Audi A4 2.8 30V, which just started having the same issue. It is idling rough, where the rpm does not fultuates but the car idles a lot rougher then before. I changed the spark pulgs and checked the vacuum lines. Could it be the fuel filter? This just started happening this week.

Re: idling/stalling

I would say try replacing the coolent temp switch as this can cause the same problem and is a cheap fix but I have to say it also causes starting issues on and off to.
