04 cd player in 01 silverado
does anyone know if a cd player from a 04 silverado will work in a 01 silverado

I bought a factory CD player out of an '02 and tried to install it in my '03. It worked until I started the truck, then locked. I took it to 2 dealers and they told me "the numbers didn't match". BS? I dunno, but that damn radio is collecting dust in my basement! ~SIGH~
