No Turbo Boost

I have a 1998 Passat with the 1.8T engine- of which I have had consistent issues - mostly electrical in nature.

Recently, I have seemed to loose power and in checking, am not getting any boost from the turbo, although it turns freely and does not seem to be locked up.

New turbo/accessories will be 1,000 dollars plus.

Will running the car without the turbo functioning present other issues? I have no smoke and the engine seems to perform fine in all other areas.

Re: No Turbo Boost

Check all the vacuum lines fron the turbo, particularly to the small valve behind the air filter housing. That valve itself is common to fail.
