Question Odyssey 2005 EX-L gear box glitch ???

Hi, excuse my english (i'm french canadian) i will try my best.

Does anyone had (i don't know how to call it) but it a similar gear box problem, with automatic transmission after an engine start, I always hear a glitch when the transmission go from de 1st to the second gear.

It's happen only 1 times after engine start. If I stop at an intersection and accelerate I don't hear anymore the little glitch from the 1st up to the second.

My dealer pretend it's normal, but assuming the high quality on Honda i really don't believe this type of glitch pass thru quality control.

Mecanician told me it the ABS activation after engine start. I already drove same year demo model and I did'nt see this problem.

Does anyone have a solution or recommandation about it ?

Thanks.

This is could be because the engine is cold. The timing does not retard at the shift points when the engine has not reached operating temp. You did not say if it only happened when you start the car after it cooled down.

It always happen, even if the motor is hot. After each engine start, cold, warm or hot. After that, no other problem, it's only the first passing from first to second gear.

Someone told me it's the ABS pump, but I'm very surprise to believe Honda put this type of noise on road. The pump need to be activate after each start, he said to me.

Don't know about that ???

reply....

i have spoke to honda rep. on my vehicle many time -- appears that honda is having many problems w/ many diffrent items on the odessey..
i have not noticed that direct problem --
.
my suggestion:::: STAY ON TOP OF THE PROBLEM.
.
if you feel that this not normal - keep taking vehicle back to the dealership and get the honda represenitive involved with your problem...
if you don't get the satisfaction - call honda and get a case # --- try anything and everthing to get your problem fixed...
.
GOOD LUCK

Re: Odyssey 2005 EX-L gear box glitch ???

Its exactly that. The ABS does a self check at around 12 mph. Usually only after the car sits. It will only happen once during a drive cycle untill you turn it off and then restart it after like 20 min.

As the dealer to go onto ISIS and under search by vehicle have them put in 05 oddy and in the search box put in 041012 thats the publication ID. Its from the october 2004 service news and its on page 5.

If there was a way to add attachments here i would post it but unfortunately i cannot.

Have you got an answer to your gear box noise on your 2005 Odyssey? My van started to make this noise about 2 weeks ago, and dealer is pretending that it's normal!!!

Thanks.
