Re: abs and track light comes on

normally, this indicates a bad hub bearing or abs harness. Take the car to a garage and have it scanned, that way you're not replacing something that isnt needed.

I had the same problem when I testdrove my car, they replaced the bearings, but from what I've read on other posts that is pretty rare. Like richtazz said, have it checked by a proffesional.

Those lights also come on when your battery is running low or isnt charging properly. If the bearings are ok, have them hook up the battery and alternator to see if they are functioning well.

Re: abs and track light comes on

all four wheel bearings have wheel speed sensors built into them. When the ABS and Trac off lights come on, it indicates a bad signal from one of the wheel speed sensors, so have it scanned to see which one is out of range, then check the harness going to that sensor, and if it checks out, you need a hub bearing.

Re: abs and track light comes on

Pretty common problem on Pontiacs. Wheel bearings are cheaply made, usually the bearing goes out before the sensor. Replace 2 at 65,000 miles. Bought one from AutoZone... BIG MISTAKE!!! first one the sensor went out after 2 mnths second one made clicking/clunking noise when turning, and the third one did the exact same thing, only worse and louder... Changed with a premium Napa bearing (SKF) haven't had a problem since.. AutoZone was very good about the return, but doubt they will do anything about the fact that the bearing they are selling is garbage.

Re: abs and track light comes on

I agree with Gmash, don't go cheapo on the bearing. Buy the name brand, preferably north american origin unless you like changing them, as the "white box" ones are JUNK
