1986 Honda CRX SI Axel Removal

Transmission has already been drained and i'm stuck on removing the Axel. I'm trying to figure out howto get the axel off of the rotor and out of the transmission. A step that I'm just working off of my intuition: In the morning i'm going to buy a breaker bar for the nut that connects the rotor to the strut.

Re: 1986 Honda CRX SI Axel Removal

A pneumatic impact wrench and a 32mm socket will take the axle nut of in about 5 seconds. But a big breaker bar will also work, it helps if you use a punch to knock the "stake" back out of the way of the threads.

To remove the axle, simply remove the top bolts holding the front strut on then compress the strut and move the whole assembly out of the wheel well. Then use a flat bar to pop the axle out of the tranny and wiggle the knuckle around to find the correct angle to pop the other end out of the hub.
