Exclamation IAC cleaning

Just to let the people out there worried about the "Dont clean this" label on the IAC that I ignored it and cleaned it any way.
I took a small hobby brush and some engine degreaser, brushed on the degreaser and cleaned the inside. Careful not to soak it it does have a motor in it. Also that black knob on the outside it is just a breather cap. (I took it off too.)
I did this one night after thinking that if I cleaned it and it didnt work I'd have to buy a new one any way.

I have a 99 sohc motor and Dont have the bllack knob on mine I also clleaned mine a while ago and didnt do anything remarkable. It however is a good idea. BTW did you lube it after with 3-1 oil or wd-40?

Cleaning is important.
I cleaned mine too.
Until I cleaned it, I couldn't see what I was doing.
In my situation, a big difference was made by the cleaning.

Re: IAC cleaning

I tried claening mine and it didn't make a difference. At > 150,000 miles I just went ahead and got a new Wells branded one at Autozone and my car idles perfectly ever since.

Re: IAC cleaning

I cleaned and lubed mine by just spraying some WD40 in the 2 chambered part. It works great now.
